From Nov. 27 to Nov. 29, the 2016 Asia Pacific Tree Climbing Championship (APTCC) & Hong Kong Tree Climbing Championship (HKTCC) were held at Tai Po, New Territories, Hong Kong. Nearly 50 climbers from New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Japan, the Chinese mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong participated in the contest. It is also the first time that the Asia Pacific Tree Climbing Championships have ever been held in a Chinese region. During the competition, Australian players stayed at the top of their game and gave a world-class A-1 performance.

The tree climbing team from Xiamen University also fared very well in the game and brought home awards. The XMU player Weng Shiyang secured the gold in “Men’s Single Double Rope Footlock”. Another player Zhang Shiwen from XMU captured the bronze medal in “Women’s Double Rope Footlock”, and the gold medal for this event went into the pocket of Yu Yanling, who has already graduated from XMU.
