On December 28, the Xinhua News Agency released a report titled “Blazing a new trail in education that goes global and getting a head start in nurturing cultural diversity and unity – a Xinhua News Agency journalist pays a visit to the campus of XMU Malaysia (XUM)”. The journalist interviewed several teachers and students there about their thoughts and feelings regarding the work, study and life in the Malaysian campus.

The report also broke the news that the second phase of the XUM campus construction project is being built and would have been completed by the next spring. And by then, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak would preside over the unveiling ceremony in person.

Mr. Wang Ruifang, president of XMU Malaysia, said in an interview that, “the enrollment of this year bodes well for XUM in the next four or five years, and our undergraduate students, graduate students and PhD candidates at XUM are expected to reach 5,000 and the number could hit 10,000 in 8 to 10 years’ time. ”

He also said that XUM has positioned itself as a global campus where diverse cultures meet, mix and mesh. With its mission of “pursuing advanced studies, fostering professional personnel, and promoting global culture”, the XMU Malaysia would like to pump more funds into its development and construction, including all the possible profits earned by XUM in the days to come. He hoped that in the not too distant future, people would refer to the XMU Malaysia as a prestigious “Chinese-run global university”.
