On November 20, the 2^nd National Collegiate Material Design Invitational Contest was held at the Student Center in Ziqin Building. Hosted by the XMU School of Materials, this high-level competition not only conforms to the principles and purposes of the contest of science and innovation, but also complies with XMU’ call for more competitons or contests that are organized by its varied colleges. This time , the School of Materials has given the reins to its undergraduates to organize and preside over this contest from start to finish. More than 17 undergraduate teams from more than a dozen universities across the country were invited. The topic of the contest is “The design, preparation and application of the advanced function material”.

This invitational contest consists of preliminaries and finals. After careful screenings by the panel of judges, 17 teams out of 27 came to the fore to make it into the finals, such as Tianjin University, Central South University and South China University of Technology etc., just to name a few. This contest has drawn a lot of attention and applause from the schools of materials of other universities, who have shown their wishes to co-host such kind of contests in the future.
