On October 22^nd, the 5^th Global Conference for Xiamen University Alumni Association Presidents & General Secretaries was held in Macao. Themed as “ Help students develop, strive to build the 'double top-tier' university”, the conference was organized by the XMU General Alumni Association and XMU Macao Alumni Association. 150 presidents and general secretaries from 84 XMU alumni associations attended the conference, sharing their work experience and voicing their advice and suggestions with regard to the future of their beloved alma mater.

 Zhu Chongshi, President of XMU, said that XMU has basically met the goal of its disciplinary readjustment and optimization, and has become a comprehensive university in the fullest sense of the word. Next, XMU will deepen the reform, double down on the promotion of its level of teaching and research as well as its intrinsic value in an effort to meet the demands of the country, meanwhile, XMU will stick to its path to go global and exploit the unique advantage of XMU alumni. It is firmly believed that with the staunch support of alumni, XMU will forge ahead and become a top-tier world-class university.

The conference examined and reviewed the work done by XMU alumni association over the last two years. The representatives at the meeting reached a series of agreements which could serve as a guidance for alumni associations in the days to come. XMU and the XMU　General Aumni Association will tap deep into the fruitful outcome of the conference and push the work of the associations to a new high so as to better serve the construction of our alma mater.
