After half a month of intense preparations made by XMU Confucius Institute Office, Roger Lord’s solo piano concert was held with great success in the Science and Art Center of XMU Siming Campus at 7:30 pm on October 20th. During the concert, Professor Roger Lord not only feasted the teachers and students’ ears on such western classic pieces of Micah San Sang, Calixa Lavalee, F.F. Chopin, etc., but also tickled the audience’s fancy with his passionate rendition of some greatest pieces of Chinese folk music such as He Luting’s New Year’s Party and Chen Peixun’s The Bright Moonlight on the West Lake in Autumn.

Present at the concert were 72 foreign deans of the Confucus Institutes from across the world  as well as more than 400 XMU teachers and students, who were deeply touched by Professor Roger Lord’s excellent performance. In addition, this event also obtained great support from the Art College of XMU and the Confucius Institute in New Brunswick, Canada. To mark the occasion of the 46th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Canada and China, Roger Lord was invited to XMU and Mr.Lord took the occasion to express his best wishes for the friendships between the two people with his amazing rendition of Chinese folk music classics. During his stay here, he received a warm welcome and had interesting exchanges and interactions with some of the teachers and students from the Art College of XMU.
