The 4th Zeiss National Metallurgical Contestand the 2nd Buehler National Material Integrated Skills Contest for College Students were held at Wuhan University of Science and Technology from October 14th to October 16th. Three students from the XMU College of Materials contended fiercely with 240 other undergraduates from 80 other colleges from across the country. Hao Runzi, an undergraduate of 2013, garnered the first prize in the Materials Integrated Skills Contest, and Lai Yongjue and Lin Mushun, two undergraduates of 2014, raked in the second prize and the third prize respectively in the Matallurgical Contest. The impressive achievements of the competition team headed by Associate Professor Yao Rongqian owed much to the strong support of the Center for Materials Science and Engineering Laboratory Teaching  of the XMU College of Materials.

To gear up for the contest, the XMU Materials Laboratory Teaching Center had already held a preliminary contest in June to select the best contestants to represent Xiamen University through a meticulous process. This is the first time for students of XMU to sign up for the National Materials Integrated Skills Contest, their efforts finally paid off when they won the first prize, which turned out to be a great breakthrough in this field for XMU in recent years.
