Recently, 72 foreign deans of the Confucius Institutes from 41 countries around the world joined the workshop in XMU, which is featured by 4 themes, including “strategies for oversea Confucius Institutes dealing with the issues concerning fitting-in and collaborating ”, “raising, managing and utilizing funds for Confucius Institutes”, “promotion of cultural brands pertaining to Confucius Institutes”, and “creation of core competitiveness and construction of adaptable and notable Confucius Institutes”.

Luis Antonio Paulino, the dean of the Confucius Institute affiliated to the Universisade de Sao Paulo delivered a speech on behalf of all the deans present at the training workshop. He said that China’s rise and growth, as well as its willingness to promote exchanges and friendships with other countries in the world, have provided a great platform for all to gather together, exchange and share valuable experiences with regard to how to properly run a Confucius Institute.

So far, Xiamen University has kept a close contact with some overseas universities and colleges in full preparation for the construction of more Confucius Institutes, the number of which is expected to exceed 20.
