Fully backed up by two teachers ,Zhou Hong and Lin Qiuda, from the School of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Lu Wenjin, a newly graduated student of Xiamen University launched an art craft activity to “resurrect” typhoon-stricken trees in the campus. And to our pleasant surprise, in less than 24 hours, more than 170 Xiamen University students of varied majors engaged in this activity of their own accord.

October 4th , 2016 saw a sneak preview of the exhibition in the Oceanology Building featuring the art crafts made from the dead fallen trees. After that, a full-scale exhibition was grandly held in Trio Village on 5th when approximately 150 pieces of handicrafts were on display. With the theme of “To take XMU home and to reuse the disaster-ravaged trees”, the nimble hands of the students of XMU breathed a new life into the debris of the arbor carnage wrought by Typhoon Meranti. Thanks to the passion and innovation of the participants, the exhibition touched the hearts and minds of many and more.
