XMU made great progress in the original research on Carboloong Chemistry, and the related research paper titled “CCCCC pentadentate chelates with planar Möbius aromaticity and unique properties” was published in Science Advances (Sci. Adv. 2016, 2, e1601031). This research represented the highest carbon coordination number for a metal atom in the equatorial plane and constructed the largest planar Möbius aromatic system synthesized to date. These CCCCC pentadentate chelates are manifested to have broad absorption spectra and high thermodynamic stability, which provide a promising material for biomedicine and solar energy utilization.
