On 12 July, a report was presented for the convention of Philosophy and Social Sciences Project 2011-2021. The report examined the achievements and the inadequacies that the university has got in promoting the project in the past three years.

At the end of the report, Zhu Chongshi, president of the university, gave six pointers for the future work. First, create a top academic team; second, improve the quality of post doctoral program; third, develop interdisciplinary collaboration; fourth, improve the university in the ESI ranking; fifth, encourage the innovation in research methods; sixth, focus on the construction of service-oriented think tank.

Zhang Yan, the Party Secretary of Xiamen University, also emphasized the following four points: first, be clear about the position in the construction of a state-level academic team; second, highlight the characteristics of Xiamen University so as to form a “Xiamen University School” in academic research; third, improve the management of the project; fourth, keep the right direction and ethic of teachers.
