Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting Visited Xiamen University

    On October 21, Zhu Chongshi, President of Xiamen University, met with Malaysia delegation headed by Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting, Malaysian Prime Minister's Special Envoy to China. Both sides had talks about the construction of Xiamen University Malaysia Campus.The delegation includes Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting and his wife Puan Sri Chong Siew Mei, Dato’ Hou Kok Chung, former Deputy Minister for Higher Education of Malaysia, Datuk Ter Leong Yap, Executive Chairman of Sunsuria Berhad, and Dato’ Tan Tian Meng. President Zhu Chongshi expressed thanks to the Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting, Dato’ Hou Kok Chung, Datuk Ter Leong Yap and Dato’ Tan Tian Meng for all their support to the construction of Xiamen University Malaysia Campus which, he thinks, is entrusted to promote the relationship between peoples of the two countries, optimize the education sources and advance the education of qualified professionals. 

    Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting stressed that the initiation of Xiamen University Malaysia Campus is a milestone in the relationship between the two countries and he is sure that the campus will play an important role in consolidating the friendship between the two countries. He has the confidence the construction of the campus will succeed with the recognition of the heads of both countries, and the support of the public.

    At the end of the meeting, President Zhu awarded Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting and Dato’ Hou Kok Chung certificates for guest professorship of Xiamen University, and witnessed the signing ceremony between Southeast Asia Studies Center of Xiamen University and the Institute of Strategic Analysis & Policy Research of Malayisa.  

    Xiamen University Malaysia Campus is expected to enroll 500 students in September 2015.
